Brandon & Lacey Wallace’s Journey Into Freedom

Transformation doesn’t begin the day someone walks out of prison.

It begins the moment they discover that their past no longer has the final word.

For Brandon and Lacey Wallace, Journey Into Freedom became much more than a curriculum. It became the beginning of a new identity, a stronger marriage, and a community that continues to walk alongside them.

To Be Behind Bars, Yet the Freest I Had Ever Been.

It Started with a Different Voice

While Brandon was incarcerated, Lacey noticed something changing long before she saw it with her own eyes.

“I just remember talking to you while you were in prison and hearing your voice,” she recalls. “You were telling me about your spiritual gifts and what you were learning. I could hear the transformation. I could hear the change. God had done something in your heart.”

The man she spoke to wasn’t the same man who had entered prison.

As Brandon worked through Journey Into Freedom’s Identity & Purpose curriculum, he began seeing himself differently.

Instead of being defined by his mistakes, he began discovering who God created him to be.

Discovering Identity Changes Everything

For Brandon, the curriculum wasn’t simply another class.

It became the foundation for a completely different future.

“My journey started while I was incarcerated. Through the Identity curriculum, I was able to truly see who Christ created me to be—that my past didn’t define me or disqualify me.”

That realization changed everything.

Even while serving time, Brandon experienced a freedom that had nothing to do with prison walls.

“To be behind bars but to be the freest I had ever been—that was amazing.”

Journey Into Freedom helped him understand that lasting transformation begins from the inside out.

The Journey Didn’t End at Release

When Brandon returned home, he knew exactly what he wanted to do next.

He wanted Lacy to experience the same transformation.

“I knew I had to be a part of it,” Lacey says.

She enrolled in the same Identity & Purpose curriculum and quickly discovered that the lessons weren’t just for people coming out of incarceration—they were truths every person needs.

“I learned so much about myself, my purpose, what God created me for, and that we are created in His image.”

As she continued through the curriculum, Lacy saw changes in every area of her life.

“I learned things about myself that helped me become a better person, a better wife, a better family member—just an all-around better person in my community. I truly feel like a new creation.”

More Than a Curriculum

One of the themes Brandon and Lacey return to again and again is that Journey Into Freedom offers something deeper than education.

It offers community.

“It’s more than just a curriculum,” Brandon explains. “It’s a family who supports us, loves us, and holds us accountable.”

That ongoing support has helped them continue growing together after incarceration.

“We honestly love being part of Journey Into Freedom,” Lacey says. “They’ve put their arms around us and shown us a new way of living.”

A Different Future Is Possible

Brandon and Lacey’s story reminds us that real transformation isn’t simply about leaving prison.

It’s about discovering a new identity, building healthier relationships, and believing that your future can be different from your past.

That’s the mission of Journey Into Freedom.

Through Christ-centered teaching, purposeful relationships, and a community committed to walking alongside participants, men and women are discovering that lasting freedom begins long before the prison gates open.

Because when someone understands who God created them to be, they can begin building a different future.
