Tanya’s Journey Into Freedom
Sometimes the greatest prison isn’t made of concrete walls.
It’s the belief that your past defines your future.
For Tanya Paige, a United States Army veteran and former inmate, that belief kept her from pursuing the life God had created for her. Journey Into Freedom helped her discover something she had never fully understood before—not just who God is, but who she is in Christ.
And that changed everything.
Finding a New Identity
When Tanya first encountered Journey Into Freedom, she wasn’t simply looking for information. She was searching for hope.
Through the ministry’s Identity & Purpose curriculum, she began discovering truths that reshaped the way she saw herself.
“I learned who God was. I learned who I was in Christ.”
Those lessons became more than biblical concepts. They became the foundation for a new life.
“It opened a whole new world that I’d never been brave enough to go after before.”
For Tanya, transformation didn’t begin with changing her circumstances. It began with changing her identity.
The Courage to Step Forward
Knowing who she was in Christ gave Tanya something she hadn’t experienced before:
Courage.
Not confidence rooted in herself—but confidence rooted in God’s purpose for her life.
Journey Into Freedom encouraged her to step beyond fear and embrace the person God had created her to become.
“It gave me the courage to step out and have faith in myself.”
That courage didn’t eliminate every challenge, but it gave her the strength to move forward with purpose instead of fear.
A Life Rebuilt
Today, Tanya’s life looks very different.
She is rebuilding relationships with her family.
She is a proud grandmother.
She has built a successful career as a dog groomer.
Most importantly, she has embraced the person God created her to be.
“Journey Into Freedom helped me grow all that,” she says. “It helped me step out of my comfort zone and showed me how to be the person God made me to be.”
Her story is a reminder that lasting transformation is not just about leaving the past behind. It’s about discovering a new future.
Learning to Listen to God
One of the most meaningful parts of Tanya’s journey was learning to trust God’s voice above every label she had carried.
“It gave me the courage to listen to God, to know that it was okay to question the world and question everything that anybody had ever told me.”
For years, Tanya had accepted the messages others had spoken over her life.
Journey Into Freedom helped her replace those voices with truth.
“It was finally okay. And He showed me the truth. He showed me how to be the me that He made me to be.”
That realization became the turning point—not just in her thinking, but in the direction of her life.
Your Generosity Makes Stories Like This Possible
Tanya is quick to point out that her story is not hers alone.
“It is because of your generosity and people like you that I was able to access that information, the mentorship, and everything else that gave me the steps that I needed to be successful.”
Every gift to Journey Into Freedom helps provide Christ-centered teaching, trusted relationships, and the opportunity for men and women to discover that they are more than their past.
Because when someone begins to understand who God created them to be, they can begin building the life they were created to live.
Help Someone Discover Their True Identity
Every day, Journey Into Freedom walks alongside incarcerated men and women as they discover hope, purpose, and a future beyond their past.
Your support helps make that journey possible.
Together, we can help more people experience the freedom that begins long before they walk through the prison gates.
